How does it work?

TotalCare medical consultations can be requested 24/7 by phone, web, or the MyGlobalRescue mobile app.  Watch this short video to learn more about how the service works (insert link to animation).

DISCLAIMERS

When you call Member Services to request a TotalCare medical consultation, you will be connected with a paramedic or nurse who will collect information on the reason for your call, your medical history, current medications, and if available, basic vital signs.  If a doctor is needed, a physician will join the virtual visit or a follow-up virtual appointment will be scheduled, based on your needs.  All of the medical care teams are led by Board-certified physicians and clinicians at Elite Medical Group, Johns Hopkins Emergency Medicine and Division of Special Operations, and Partners Healthcare.  Depending on your condition, you may be referred to a local facility for treatment.

No.  TotalCare is designed to complement your relationship with your existing primary care physician and is not intended to be a means of establishing an exclusive relationship with a TotalCare provider.  TotalCare services are provided by world-class medical care teams led by Board-certified physicians and clinicians at Elite Medical Group, Johns Hopkins Emergency Medicine and Division of Special Operations, and Partners Healthcare.

The TotalCare service is designed to handle non-emergency medical issues.  If you are having a medical emergency that requires immediate assistance, you should call your local emergency dispatcher (in the US, dial 911) that will immediately connect you to the police/sheriff, fire department, or an ambulance.

Yes.  If during your TotalCare medical consultation, the treating physician recommends that a prescription is needed, he or she can order a prescription for non-narcotic drugs.  The prescription will be submitted electronically or by phone to a pharmacy of your choice, or if you are travelling, to one near you.  DISCLAIMERS

Yes.  TotalCare health information and medical consultation services are available to members who have selected and paid for a TotalCare membership or the TotalCare upgrade, whether or not they are travelling, anywhere in the world.

TotalCare medical consultations are a medical expense that may be reimbursable or paid using funds from a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA).  After the conclusion of your medical consultation, you will be emailed a link to secure patient portal (Praxis), where you can download a summary of your consult and a receipt from the provider.  For more information on what may be reimbursable, contact your account administrator.
